Hari is a common name in India and so is Harry, a common name in the west. Puttar means Son in Hindi and every Punjabi Parent in the history of Punjabi dhaba and Bhangra call their son as Puttar. So I don’t know what base does Warner have for suing the new Bollywood movie Hari Puttar. Sure, Bollywood has had its part with plagiarism, but suing over a name that “sounds like” is immature. I think we have to make them watch the bollywood movies that have actual plagiarised stories and scenes.

Incidentally, the upcoming Harry Potter movie – Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is postponed to Summer of next year – July 2009.
I am Putting together all this matter into a single atom sized Haiku and here it goes:
Potter moves,
Hari Puttar makes news,
Warner sues!
There, that’s it. There is nothing else left to be known.
By the way IMDB has a release date of September 12, 2008 for Hari Puttar, a comedy of Terrors. Let’s see if they can make that date in one piece and the same name.
